The first Last Quarter Moon of 2025 is almost here, and it’s time to make sure that there isn’t anything still weighing us down from 2024. We have big plans for this year, and nothing from last year is going to get in our way!
Last week, we talked about the progress we made in the first couple weeks of the New Year, and the meditation encouraged us to look back further to 2024’s progress and struggles. If you missed the meditation, we can do that together today! So get out a pen and paper (or if you’re like me, open a new page in Notion), and let’s get to reflecting.
I want you to think back on 2024 as a whole, and write down any struggles or blocks that pop up immediately. Start with the big ones, maybe you were dealing with them all year or maybe they were just really challenging for a little while. Personally, I was struggling a lot with imposter syndrome, or feeling like I wasn’t good enough. Life changes left me feeling destabilized last year, and it was hard to remember who I was and how much work I’d put into getting to where I am now. So write down those big struggles from last year, and let’s continue.
Next, go month to month and write down one thing you struggled with each month. This is where we look at smaller stuff, like being caught up in online hate, reacting poorly to criticism, or having a hard time reminding a client about their overdue invoice. Find one struggle from each month, and when you have everything written down, we’ll move to reflection.
Looking at your list, I want you to sit with each struggle for a bit. Is this something that you overcame last yeah? If so, celebrate it and cross it out. If not, if it’s still plaguing you in some way, circle it or write it down again in a new area. This list of things that you continue to struggle with will be our “Let Go List.” Let the Last Quarter Moon wash away these pains and burdens, with the support of the tarot archetypes and astrological placement below.
Tarot Guidance
Death is one of my favorite Last Quarter Moon cards, because this is the time for endings and release, keeping in mind the beginnings and growth just around the corner. We can let the Death card remind us that endings prepare us for beginnings, and feel empowered to let go of the things we need to let go of.
The Eight of Cups inspires us to walk away from anything that doesn’t align with our higher purpose, pushing us to choose ourselves and our best future over fears. The Light Seer tarot deck describes the actions described in this card as a “rebellious act of self-love” and I adore that wording. Leaving old things behind takes courage, but choosing our greatest good is always worth it, and this card can help up really internalize this fact.
Astrological Influence
This isn’t the first time I’ve directed us to look at your Chiron placement, and it definitely won’t be the last. Chiron is the Wounded Healer, and it’s placement in our chart can show us what wounds we need to heal and what negative blocks we might feel as we grow. Right now, Chiron is in Aries, encouraging us to grapple with our senses of self and giving us the courage to face our fears. Using this fiery energy to help us break down limiting beliefs and fears we hold about ourselves can make moving forward with our goals so much easier.
My Chiron is in Libra in the 12th House, meaning that a lot of my wounds revolve around a fear of rejection, perfectionism and self-neglect (my therapist would agree). As I move into 2025 and start working on my goals, I’m letting the fire of Chiron in Aries burn away the negative feelings I’ve harbored towards myself, leaning into my individuality and inner wisdom to feel confident in who I am. Only with this confidence can I do all the kick-ass things I want to do this year!
Take a look at your chart and see what Chiron shows you about your fears and wounds, and let Aries burn it all down.
Questions to ask yourself this week: What fears or illusions might be clouding my path, and how can I trust my inner wisdom? What limiting beliefs or unhealthy attachments need to be released for my freedom and growth?
And that brings us to the end of another lunar cycle! I hope you feel prepared and excited for the new year laid out in front of us. Do a cleansing or release ritual on the Last Quarter Moon for that extra magical support, and let’s make 2025 the best year yet!
Next week we’ll be starting a new cycle, so be sure to follow me on Threads or Instagram to be one of the first to know about our upcoming topic. See you next week, moonbeams!
